Ocean City Council member Dennis Dare has been hospitalized and was admitted to the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore on Sunday.
WBOC reports that details of his condition have not been made public.
But resort officials say he is showing signs of improvement.
Dare won a seat on the council in 2012 after serving as city manager from 1990 to 2011.
He has also been past president of the Maryland City/County Managers Association.
