Ocean View officials say there is no merit to allegations of embezzlement by a former employee and the town’s engineering company.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports that rumors surfaced on social media on Saturday and pulled in 26 comments with 40 Likes on Facebook.
The paper reports that the post alleged that former town administrative official Charles McMullen and Kercher Engineering had gotten together to embezzle the money.
But Mayor Walter Curran told the Daily Times that there is no indication any such wrongdoing took place.
He added that the claim was from a former disgruntled employee’s family member.
