No Transitional Home for Female Vets in Milford

Don Rush

MILFORD, Del. (AP) - A Delaware foundation has abandoned plans to open a transitional home for female veterans and their children at a Milford location it had picked out.

The Home of the Brave Foundation had bought property in town where it planned to provide housing.

But the foundation says it's decided to look for other locations after encountering resistance from neighbors.

The Sussex County Board of Adjustment had also decided to approve the home for only two years and to require the foundation to return for re-approval.

Linda Boone, the chairwoman of the foundation's board, tells The Daily News of Wilmingtonthat the foundation liked the location because of its proximity to downtown Milford.

She said opponents misunderstood how the home would operate, and that the foundation would look for other locations.
