No State Money For Commercial Center Near New Castle

official website

There will be no state taxpayer money for road improvements for Stoltz Real Estate Partners controversial commercial center near New Castle.

A state panel removed the $4.1 million request from its agenda after New Castle County Executive Tom Gordon and the County Council rejected separate requests to sponsor the company’s application.

Gordon said he did not like the idea of Wal-Mart as the rumored anchor for the town center.

In addition, County spokesman Antonio Prado noted that the company has a reputation for low wages and benefits which would hurt local retailers.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that Stoltz will now have to pay for the work around the 425-thousand square foot New Castle Town Center.

The shopping center is located at the former Parkway Gravel site at Delaware Route 273 and Churchman’s Road.
