No Decision Yet on Princess Anne Historic District

townofprincessanne.com

Princess Anne town officials are reassuring the public that no decision has been made yet on whether to create a Historic District.

In the words of Town Commissioner Garland Hayward. “This is not a done deal.”

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the commissioners are expected to hold several more work sessions before bringing the issue to a vote.

In addition, they say they want to get more public input and could change the language of  the proposed ordinance.

Princess Anne was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 but there are no rules to protect properties from demolition.

Nor are there are any guidelines for what a property owners can do to historic structures.
