No Cause to Kick Suspect in Dover Police Assault Case

Dover Police Dept

The prosecution has rested in the case of a Dover police officer after its final witness told the court that there was no justification for Cpl. Thomas Webster to kick Lateef Dickerson in the head knocking him unconscious.

Use-of-force expert Ron Martinelli said after examining the dash cam video and other evidence there was no cause for Webster’s actions during the 2013 arrest.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that over the last two days the prosecutor called six witnesses and has parsed the less than 20 second of dash cam video from another officer’s patrol car.

If convicted on the second degree assault charge Webster could get up to 8 years in prison.
