Where you can surf in Ocean City could change next summer.
It began with local surfer Mick Chester who organized an online petition asking for wider surf areas and more flexibility to make decisions about surf beach locations depending on how busy they are.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports that currently the law restricts surfing to two blocks around 350 feet that rotate during the summer.
Chester wants that expanded to 2 and a-half blocks wide.
The Town Council has delegated a committee to review the current regulations.
It will be made up of members ranging from surfers and surf shop owners to staff members from the Recreation and Parks Department and other stake holders.
