New Proposed Shade Tree Ordinance in Rehoboth

creative commons

A new tree ordinance could affect owners of property of more than 5-thosuand square feet in Rehoboth Beach.

Currently such property owners are now required to have three trees in their yard.

The resort’s Planning commission will take up a proposed change tonight …that would require that they be shade trees which are 30 feet or taller.

Many homes already have a number of large trees but WBOC reports some areas are lacking such as Country Club Estates.

Commission Chair Preston Littleton said there was a possibility of more recommendations being added to the proposal.

After that he hopes it would quickly go to the City Commission.
