New Overpass in Northern Delaware Eases Traffic Flow

all-free-download.com

After nearly two years of construction the traffic should begin to flow smoothly over a new two-lane flyover ramp from Delaware Route 1 to northbound I-95 in northern Delaware.

That allows motorists heading toward Wilmington and Philadelphia to stay on the left along the ramp while those going to I-295 and New Jersey merge right.

The new ramp allows motorists to avoid shifting five lanes of interstate traffic or end up in New Jersey.

The ramp was opened around 11:30 a.m. that is designed to eliminate a choke point on the I-95 corridor in the northeast.

Governor Jack Markell said the project next to the Christiana Mall should be seen as being about economic development as well as just making it easier for people to commute to work.

Roger Lant with Cherry Hill Construction the state’s inspector on the project said it added the equivalent of 10 lane-miles and six new bridges as well as widening the existing bridge.
