New Location for Proposed Trash Transfer Station

salisbury.edu

Plans for a transfer trash station in Fruitland would move it from the original proposed location.

It could now be going a bit further down the road to Walnut Tree Road just south of Upper Ferry Road.

There has been a search since November when a group of residents appealed to the Wicomico County Council decided not to approve plans for the transfer station.

Residents complained that it would decrease property values and expressed concern about noise and trash and dust on their lawns.

At a Tuesday meeting County Executive Rick Pollitt told around 30 residents that he understood their concerns but there was a commitment by the county to have transfer stations in all regions of the county.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that while the search for a permanent location is not over, Director of Public Works John Redden said he and other county officials began the search for new locations soon after the County Council voted down the location on Walnut tree and Allen roads.
