COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) - The University of Maryland says it has developed a new Energy 101 curriculum designed to help students address the nation's energy challenges.
A pilot course called Designing a Sustainable World is already being offered this semester to 28 students majoring in a variety of areas from computer science to food science. University officials say the course will be highlighted by the Department of Energy when the federal agency unveils a national curriculum next month. Two university researchers are also working to develop similar courses at the Cecil Community College and Harford Community College.
The researchers say students in the pilot course create designs to address a critical energy or sustainability issue.
