DOVER, Del. (AP) - A veteran school administrator has been named as Delaware's next deputy secretary of education.

The News Journal of Wilmington, Del., reports that David Blowman will replace Dan Cruce, who is leaving the post to work for a Washington-based education nonprofit group. Blowman has spent 10 years as the chief financial officer for the Brandywine School District.

Before working at Brandywine, Blowman served in several departments within state government and has experience working with the state education budget.

The department of education says Blowman, a native of England, has a degree in economics and political science from the University of Leeds and a master's degree in policy analysis from Penn State.
