The New Castle County Police will be getting another piece of equipment in their arsenal.

By the end of the month the county council is expected to approve $52-thousand to add a drone to the force.

It will provide images for police during emergency situations. The Wilmington News Journal reports that the funds will go for staffing find the right model, training four employees and obtaining equipment and spare parts.

Police Captain Pat Crowell told the paper that the drone can be used in searching for missing persons as well as getting an assessment of large crowds.

At the moment a police helicopter is being used to carry out such work.
