New Castle County Getting Land from PBF Energy

DELAWARE CITY, Del. (AP) - PBF Energy is giving New Castle County a 19-acre property near its Delaware City Refinery.

The New Castle County Council voted Tuesday to accept the land on the northwest corner of Wrangle Hill Road and Bear Corbitt Road. The land is in exchange for a five-year property tax exemption and tax-exempt bond financing that the county gave PBF last year. The land is zoned for commercial use and isn't being used by the company.

County Executive Paul G. Clark says he would like the county to lease the property as a solar farm.

Karl Kalbacher, the county's director of economic development, says the land is worth about $546,000.
