DOVER, Del. (AP) - State officials are accepting public comment on proposed new rules governing animal shelters in Delaware.
The regulations proposed by the Office of Animal Welfare will be the subject of a public hearing Monday at DelDOT headquarters in Dover.
Officials say the regulations are intended to ensure the protection and care of companion animals being held in shelters and to increase opportunities for their adoption.
The new rules also establish requirements for humane euthanasia, including training and certification requirements for euthanasia technicians.
Officials say written comments on the proposed regulations will be accepted through March 10.
