Salisbury has snagged the National Folk Festival for the next three years starting in 2018.

WBOC reports that Salisbury was among 34 towns across the country that vied for the festival.

The festival is the country’s longest-running traditional arts event that includes not only music but dance as well as traditional arts and culture.

Mayor Jake Day told the television station that the new event is just another sign that Salisbury has redoubled its efforts to become the cultural heart and soul of Delmarva.

The event has traditionally drawn up to a 150-thousand people generating as much as $30 million a year in economic activity.
