More Testimony in Misconduct Trial of John Leopold

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Anne Arundel County Executive John Leopold's chief of staff says a member of his security detail put together a file on a political opponent.

Chief of Staff Erik Robey ran Leopold's re-election campaign in 2010. Robey testified Wednesday that the file on campaign opponent Joanna Conti was compiled by Cpl. Howard Brown. Brown testified Tuesday that he was paid overtime to watch a cash box at a campaign event and unload campaign signs. Brown says he questioned the orders, but didn't refuse because he was afraid of retribution.

Leopold is facing charges of misconduct in office for allegedly using his police detail for personal and political purposes. The county executive has maintained his innocence.

Retired Judge Dennis Sweeney is hearing the case.
