More Jobs Could be Coming to Dover

Energizer Holdings will be closing up shop in Montreal Canada and consolidating its feminine care into the company’s plant in Dover.

The Canadian facility plant which makes Stayfree and Carefree brands will shut down sometime in 2017.

Production will be phased into the Dover plant beginning in 2015.

Currently the Dover facility has 475 employees while the Montreal plant has 430.

But the company said it is unclear know how many new jobs will be created in Delaware or whether the physical plant will be expanded for the additional production.

Dover Mayor Robin Christiansen told WBOC that there were no incentives for the move and chocked it up to the economics of closing the plant in Montreal and the feeling that Dover was a good place for the consolidation.
