Minimum Speed Limit for Chincoteague Causeway Sought

fieldmarine

Accomack County officials want Virginia transportation officials to put up a sign with a minimum speed for the Chincoteague causeway.

Supervisor Wanda Thornton whose district covers the highway wants the minimum speed of 45 mph for the road that goes to Chincoteague Island.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that Thornton said the problem was that there are people using mopeds who are traveling much slower than that.

The Accomack County Board approved a resolution making the request to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
