Mikulski Asks Labinal Power Not to Close

Maryland’s Senior Senator Barbara Mikulski has sent a letter asking that Labinal Power Systems change its mind about shutting down its plant in Salisbury.

The company suddenly announced this week that it was moving the operation to Denton, Texas to be more competitive in the aerospace industry.

The letter was address to the president of Safran North America, which owns Labinal.

Mikulski had secured millions of dollars in funding for the Chinook helicopter with the anticipation that it would support hundreds of workers at the facility in Salisbury.

The closure is expected to affect 650 employees who will get assistance from the company as its shuts down the facility.
