PIKESVILLE, Md. (AP) - The University System of Maryland's chancellor could get a $125,000 kitchen renovation in the Baltimore County mansion the system provides for its chief executive.
The Baltimore Sun reports in December, the executive committee of a foundation associated with the system discussed allocating money for the new kitchen and other work at the Hidden Waters estate.
University system spokeswoman Anne Moultrie says the $125,000 figure is "for discussion purposes only." No final decision has been made.
The three-story mansion is occupied by Chancellor Robert B. Caret.
Moultrie described the condition of the kitchen, which is used to cater university events, as 30 years old and very dated.
The 12,606-square-foot mansion was built in 1936. The Board of Regents decided to make it the official residence of the chancellor in 1988.
