Senator Ben Cardin has weighed in with other Senators along the Eastern Seaboard to block offshore drilling along the Atlantic coastline.
Introduction of the legislation comes five years after the BP oil spill in the gulf.
The Maryland Democrat and others believe that offshore drilling could threaten the local economies and environment along the coastline.
Other colleagues joining Cardin included the two Senators from New Jersey -- Robert Menendez and Cory Booker.
