The University of Maryland has rescinded the three honorary degrees that had been given to Bill Cosby.

These were from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, the University of Baltimore and the University of Maryland, College Park.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the Board of Regents had received requests to do so from all three institutions.

In 1998 Cosby received an honorary degree of humane letters from UMES during a commencement ceremony at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center.

The UMES Honorary Degree Taskforce began last month to look at the degree after Cosby was found guilty of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand in 2004.

The vote by the taskforce was unanimous.
