Don Rush

LINTHICUM HEIGHTS, Md. (AP) - Maryland officials are set to announce how many people were killed on the state's roads last year.

Transportation Secretary Pete Rahn will join other officials in Linthicum Heights on Wednesday to release the 2016 roadway fatalities in Maryland.

Officials will highlight Maryland's commitment to a statewide effort known as the Strategic Highway Safety Plan. The goal of the collaboration between federal, state and local officials is to cut traffic fatalities in half during the next 20 years.
