Maryland Targeted by Russian Ads During 2016 Election

official photo

The chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee noted that Maryland was one of three states most targeted by Russian ads during the 2016 presidential elections.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that North Carolina Republican Richard Burr used the heavily Democratic state to downplay the impact of the Russian backed ads.

The paper reports that there were 262 ads in Maryland as opposed to Wisconsin which saw only 55.

President Trump barely won Wisconsin.

CNN and the Baltimore Sun report that one of the Russian linked ads featured a fake Black Lives Matter message focused on curbing the ability of African Americans to vote in Baltimore.
