SALISBURY, Md. (AP) - Maryland State Police say troopers shot and killed a man who may have hit or dragged a trooper with his vehicle at the Salisbury barrack.

While the barrack's duty officer checked a repair to a man's vehicle in the parking lot on Tuesday night, he called for assistance.

Police say the duty officer and a second trooper who responded to help both fired their weapons and the duty officer was found on the edge of the parking lot with injuries consistent with being hit or dragged by a vehicle.

The man who had requested the repair check was found in his vehicle crashed into a guardrail about 150 yards away. Police say the man was pronounced dead at the hospital and the duty officer is being treated for his injuries.
