DOVER, Del. (AP) - Gov. Jack Markell has signed an executive order establishing a state cybersecurity advisory council.

Markell says the council will help support efforts by the state Department of Technology & Information to prevent, detect and respond to cyberattacks.

The panel also will help coordinate cybersecurity initiatives among public- and private-sector entities and promote infrastructure security.

The council will be led by the state's chief information officer and consist of at least 11 representatives of state agencies, higher education and small and large businesses.

Markell established the council with his signature on Wednesday.
