OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) - Natural Resources Police say a man was severely injured when he was struck by a boat's propeller in Ocean City.

The Daily Times of Salisbury reports that it happened about 5 p.m. Monday in Isle of Wight Bay. Natural Resources Police spokeswoman Candus Thomson says several friends were on a rented 22-foot pontoon boat.

Thomson says 26-year-old John Scott Hauf of Sykesville jumped off the bow of the boat and was hit by the propeller, suffering severe cuts to his shoulders, neck and head.

Police say his friends pulled Hauf aboard and took him to Bahia Marina. He was taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore.
