WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Court documents show a man was shot in the hand by police after he brandished a handgun in the parking lot of the Wilmington Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Charles Jobe has been charged with assault on a federal police officer stemming from Friday's incident. Authorities did not disclose at the time that he had been shot by a Department of Veterans Affairs police officer.

The News Journal of Wilmington reports that according to a criminal complaint, Jobe drove a pickup truck to the parking lot of the medical center on Friday afternoon and walked around with a handgun for 15 minutes.

When officers confronted him, the documents say Jobe pointed the gun directly at them. One officer fired two shots and, Jobe was struck once in the hand.
