RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The federal government is offering loans to help homeowners and businesses clean up after floods swept through parts of the state last month.
Gov. Terry McAuliffe's administration says the low-interest disaster loans through the U.S. Small Businesses Association are available in the counties of Alleghany, Bath, Coutetourt, Craig, Rockbridge and the city of Covington.
Renters and groups like charities, churches and private universities can also apply.
McAuliffe's office says homeowners can get loans up to $200,000. Businesses and nonprofits can borrow up to $2 million for repairs.
The Small Business Association is opening an office in the Alleghany County Governmental Complex where people can get help applying for the loans. People can also apply online.
