Loud Boom Puzzles Delmarva Residents

don rush

A loud boom was heard yesterday afternoon in Wicomico County and in  Delaware.

But it’s not clear what it was.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports its Facebook page posted messages saying they had heard the loud noise in Salisbury, Hebron, Fruitland and Eden as well as the Delaware side of Delmar.

Meanwhile, the Delmar Weather Facebook page saw people say they heard the sound in Rehoboth Beach , Georgetown , Selbyville and Laurel.

The Daily Times said that it reached out to military officials and that the Naval Air Station Patuxent River said they would look into it.

The military base issued a news release on its website that said the region felt a sonic boom in February with supersonic flights just three miles off the coast.
