WILLARDS, Md. (AP) - Authorities say lightning caused a fire that heavily damaged a bank administration building on Maryland's Eastern Shore.

The State Fire Marshal's Office says in a news release that the fire was reported about 2 p.m. Thursday at the administration building of the Farmers Bank of Willards. Officials say several employees were evacuated from the two-story, wood-frame building.

Authorities say it took about 40 firefighters about an hour to extinguish the blaze. No one was hurt.

The State Fire Marshal's Office estimated the damage to be about $750,000.
