DOVER, Del. (AP) - State lawmakers are continuing to probe issues involving evidence tampering in the state's drug-testing lab.
House and Senate lawmakers planned to hold a joint hearing Wednesday regarding the lab, which is part of the medical examiner's office and is the subject of a criminal investigation. Lawmakers have invited representatives of the attorney general's office and court system to attend.
Authorities have discovered more than 60 cases in which drug evidence has apparently been tampered with or is missing, resulting in several criminal cases being delayed, dismissed or plea bargained.
The Delaware public defender's office is seeking to have hundreds of drug convictions dismissed because of problems at the lab dating to 2010.
Chief medical examiner Richard Callery and a forensic investigator within his office both have been suspended with pay.
