Law to Broaden Access to Naloxone in Delaware

Governor John Carney is set to sign a measure that would broaden the ability to obtain the overdose-reversing drug Naloxone.

It would allow for over the counter purchase of the drug at pharmacies around the state.

Naloxone is an antidote for opioid overdoses and its use has skyrocketed as drug addiction has spread to around the country.

WBOC reports that in the last year there were 15-hundred uses alone.        

And so far this year alone there have been 866 reported instances in which it has been administered.

Maryland approved a similar law that greater access beyond first responders.
