Last Ditch Effort In Maryland to Expand Gambling This Year

There are some last minute efforts to revive the prospects for expanded gambling in Maryland.

Gov. Martin O'Malley is set to meet with top Prince George's and Montgomery County officials as well as the Mayor of Baltimore today.

Tomorrow O'Malley is set to meet with House Speaker Michael Busch and Senate President Mike Miller.

Lawmakers have had trouble reaching an agreement on how to allow table games and a sixth casino in Prince George's County.

O'Malley has said he will call a special session, if lawmakers can work out an agreement.

But they are facing an Aug. 20 deadline to approve legislation, so voters can consider the proposal in November.
