Labinal Power Systems has announced it will be moving its operations in Salisbury to Denton, Texas next year.
In a statement issued by the company, the move will begin in May with the plant closing by the end of 2016.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports that there will be more than 500 jobs lost.
Labinal provides electronics manufacturing services.
The statement said that the move is being made to be more competitive in the aerospace industry.
The company said the employees will get transition packages, job training support and other assistance.
