Maryland residents are flocking to the polls today.
And along with the presidential race voters also will pick the replacement for one of the state's most popular politicians: Senator Barbara Mikulski.
She who is retiring this year after 30 years on Capitol Hill.
Rep. Chris Van Hollen is aiming to succeed his Democratic colleague holding a commanding lead in the public opinion polls over Republican Delegate Kathy Szeliga with 58% to 29%.
In the presidential race, Democrat Hillary Clinton holds a similar lead over Republican nominee Donald Trump in Maryland with 63% to 27%.
Meanwhile, the popular Republican Governor Larry Hogan has said he does not support his party's nominee.
In the First Congressional District incumbent Republican AndyHarris is expected to do well against Democratic challenger Joe Werner.
Polls open across the state open at 7 a.m. Tuesday and close at 8 p.m. A record number of Maryland residents took advantage of early voting. Over eight days, more than 800,000 voters cast ballots in the state - far more than the 430,500 people who voted early in the 2012 presidential election.
Delaware
Delawareans are also going to the polls today.
And, the First State is Blue so Democrat Hillary Clinton is expected to overwhelm her Republican rival Donald Trump.
On the state level Democrat Lisa Blunt Rochester is competing for the state's lone congressional seat against Republican Hans Riegle that has been left vacant by Rep. John Carney.
He is running for governor against Republican state Senator Colin Bonini.
Voters also will choose a new lieutenant governor and state insurance commissioner, a new Wilmington mayor, and new chief executive of New Castle County.
