Delaware state road crews were out yesterday and overnight trying to clean off some of the secondary streets with a warning that the highways remain icy due to the cold temperatures.

The Wilmington News Journal reports there were more than a 100 crashes on Sunday spread across all three counties.

Crews were out salting the roads overnight.

Delaware Electric Cooperative said there were power outages for just over 12-hundred customers.

Most of these were in the Felton and Frederica areas.

DelDOT Accident

Route 141 was closed yesterday afternoon when a Delaware state transportation plow got caught on some overhead electrical wires.

The accident resulted in the traffic signal going out and some 40 customers of Delaware Power and Light were left in the dark.

The plow operator was uninjured.

The Delaware Department of Transportation said that the plow pulled down several poles down on both sides of Route 100.

A detour was set up around the area in anticipation of the morning traffic.
