Hurlock Citizens Consider Natural Gas

creative commons

The town of Hurlock may turn to natural gas to cut its heating bills.

The Hurlock Citizens and Seniors Association would like to tap into a natural gas pipeline that runs through the town.

The group told WBOC that the pipeline has been sitting unused along the railroad line since 1860.

Chesapeake Utilities says two industrial companies have been using natural gas from the pipeline but believes that extending it to the rest of the town would be more difficult than installing it in newer developments.

Expense for the infrastructure could be paid for with state or federal money.
