Hotel Appoligizes for Canceling Homeless Reservations

historichotels.org

The Hotel du Pont is apologizing for abruptly canceling the reservations made for around a half a dozen homeless people to spend the night on Christmas.

The reservation were made by Scott Senge as a gift but three hours before check in the hotel told him the reservations were canceled because of safety concerns for other guests.

Yesterday, another report said that the hotel did not believe the homeless would have the proper identification.

The cost of the room was $639.

After WDEL reported on the incident and a social media frenzy late yesterday the hotel officials said they had reversed course while the Hilton Wilmington Christiana offered to provide free lodging as well.
