Homeless Barred From Under Pier at OC Park

Ocean City website

Ocean City has forced those living beneath the pier at Sunset Park after receiving complaint about homeless people leaving beer cans and trash.

In addition, authorities say there were problems with people taking advantage of the electrical outlets used for Christmas lights to run space heaters and to recharge their cell phones.

Police say people will still be able to live in the park but just not under the piers.

Lindsay O’Neal with the Ocean City Police told WBOC that the situation was not safe because the tides could trap anyone under the pier.

The resort’s homeless population goes up during the winter when jobs and a place to stay usually disappear.
