"Hit List" in Courthouse Shooting Case

mug shot

Christine Belford who was shot and killed along with her friend at the Delaware courthouse warned a year before her death of the potential of violence by her former husband’s family.

The warning came in the form of an email to her attorney which mentioned that her father-in-law Thomas Matusiewicz was an excellent shot.

Belford’s prediction came after her husband David Matusiewicz lost his parental rights to their three children.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that there was a hit list found in the car his father was driving which had Belford’s name at the top.

The paper reports that there were a dozen or so other names on the list but they were all blanked out in the court filing.

Prosecutors told the News Journal that they included lawyers, judges and witnesses involved in a prior kidnapping and bank fraud case involving his don David and the father’s wife Lenore.

Chief U. S. District Court Judge Gregory Sleet who sentenced David to four years in prison in 2009 in the case was on the list according to the paper.
