Heat Is Up, Cooling Stations Open

It’s another scorcher today with the highs expected to reach the upper 90’s.

In Maryland Worcester County is opening up cooling stations at their libraries in Berlin, Ocean City, Ocean Pines, Pocomoke and Snow Hill.

The first floor in the County Government offices will also be open with seating and water.

In Wicomico County the Youth and Civic Center has been set up as a cooling center.

For those over 50 the MAC Center will be open through the weekend.

Meanwhile Ocean City is gearing up for College Beach Weekend.

The resort’s police department along with other law enforcement agencies ..will be patrolling the boardwalk with both uniform and non-uniform officers.

Last year there were two dozen arrests.

And in Harrington the Delaware State Fair opened yesterday despite a heat advisory that lasted until 7 p.m. last night.

The fair runs through July 29th and will feature not only the usual agricultural exhibits but rides, food and music.

Last year there were nearly 262-thousand in attendance.
