Harrington Could Be Site for Country Music Festival

vote.de website

The country music festival envisioned by Alex Pires for Sussex County could be located at the state Fair Grounds in Harrington.

Yesterday the Sussex County Council agreed to accept his request to withdraw an application for using a farm in Harbeson.

Both the Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission and the Department of Transportation recommended against approval.

The council vote was 4-to1.

At issue was a misunderstanding about the kind of details required for the plan at Harbeson.

The proposal also drew opposition from local residents.

Meanwhile, Delaware State Representative Dave Wilson said that he would support the festival being located at Harrington if approved by the Delaware State Fair rental committee.
