ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Gov. Martin O'Malley has met with the Legislature's top lawmakers to talk about transportation funding issues.

The governor met Thursday with Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller, D-Calvert, and House Speaker Michael Busch, D-Anne Arundel.

O'Malley says they're still searching for a consensus on how to raise money to address a backlog of transportation projects.

Matt Gallagher, O'Malley's chief of staff, says the discussion was constructive, and discussions are still ongoing.

Miller told reporters earlier in the day that the session is half over. The Senate president, who has made some proposals of his own to raise hundreds of millions of dollars annually for transportation, says a plan is needed.
