Under a measure unveiled by Governor Jack Markell yesterday Delaware gun owners would have to report lost or stolen firearms within 48 hours of discovering the weapon was missing.
If a person does not do so he will face a misdemeanor charge.
Repeat offenders could be looking at a felony and potentially lose the right to own a gun.
Democratic State Senator Darryl Scott of Dover told WBOC that there appears to be strong support for this part of the plan.
In addition, he believes that there is broadening support for background checks.
