RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The auto club says the average price of a gallon of gas has dipped below the $2 mark.

The AAA Mid-Atlantic reported Monday the $1.99 price of a gallon of unleaded gas is the lowest pump price in the state since May 2009. The Triple A says 24 other states are reporting sub-$2 fuel prices, with more expected to join.

The auto club says average fuel prices around the state range from $1.91 in the Richmond area to $2.01 in Norfolk. Nationally, motorists are paying $2.06 cents for a gallon of unleaded.
