Gambling Gets Attention in Delaware Legislature

Slots

Delaware lawmakers are considering a measure that would allow fraternal organizations to keep their video lottery machines in play – at least temporarily.

There will be a limit of 20 video lottery machines that pay out to a limit of 75-percent of each dollar put in.

The rest will go to the state like machines at the casinos.

The legislation comes in the wake of a crackdown on slot machine operations at various veterans’ clubs last fall by law enforcement authorities.

The organizations went to their lawmakers telling them that the money generated by the slots funds programs that provide benefits to veterans and schools.

Keno

Keno has come to Delaware.

The state Lottery Director Vernon Kirk says that there is already a lot of interest in the game with several thousand tickets sold so far and many more expected in the coming days.

Radio Station WDEL reports that Delaware is 14th state to offer Keno which is available at 70 new and existing retail locations.

The legislation was signed into law last June by Governor Jack Markell allowing the state Lottery to issue licenses to businesses outside of the state’s race tracks.
