Gail Bartkovich To Leave Wicomico County Council

wicomicocounty.org

Longtime member of the Wicomico County Council Gail Bartkovich says after 12 years she has decided to not seek re-election.

The Republican represents the county’s 3rd district.

And she told the Salisbury Daily Times that she wants to spend more time with her grandchildren adding that the new shape of her district would give new candidates a fresh start.

In addition, she said that her husband John Bartkovich who led the local Republican Party for years may also retire in the next four years.

Her departure follows the announcement by her colleague Sheree Sample-Hughes that she will leave to make a run for the Maryland House of Delegates.

That would leave Stevie Prettyman as the only woman still on the council.

Bartkovich’s decision allows plenty of time for the Wicomico County Republican Central Committee to find a candidate to replace her.
