Funeral Set This Friday for Chaplain David Chew

Funeral Services with full firefighter honors will be held this Friday for rescue lieutenant and chaplain David Chew with the Bloxom Volunteer Fire Company.

Chew was died on Monday when the fire truck in which he was riding…ran off the Nelsonia Road and crashed into the trees while answering a call.

Authorities say he was thrown from the fire truck and killed.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that Chew’s death is believed to be the seventh – in the line of duty – in the memory among Virginia’s Eastern Shore volunteer fire and rescue companies.

And it is the first for the Bloxom Volunteer Fire Company.

Services will be held at Metompkin Elementary School with burial at the Parksley Cemetery.

Chew is survived by his wife and a son.
